"A city is the pulsating product of the human hand and mind, reflecting man's history, his struggle for freedom, creativity, genius-and his selfishness and errors." Charles Abrams

We have learned this and much more...

Working on this project, we really learned more about Turkey and Croatia. At school we studied something about Europe but we didn't study every country in detail. We are glad that we could find out so many interesting things about these two countries. And it seems that all the students are very communicative, which means that we have the chance to make many new friends. We hope we will continue to communicate, to exchange opinions on different topics or maybe just chat! After all: "Communication works for those who work at it." John Powell

"This project was a new and very interesting experience for me. I think that all teams did great work. I found out a lot of new things about Bucharest and Istanbul. The team seems nice and it was a good cooperation. In our Geography classes we learnt about other countries, but I didn't know all of these interesting facts about the capitals of Romania and Turkey. When I read about the places of cultural and historical interest, I was amazed. I didn't know that Bucharest had so many similarities with France. The history of our parents and grandparents has many similarities too; all communist countries lived in the same regime and by the same rules. Today, Bucharest way of life is similar to Glina's and teenagers have the same interests. Now when I learnt about Bucharest and Istanbul, I came to the conclusion that those are places that would be interesting to visit."

"You can find and learn a lot of information about other places on the Internet. But those are just facts and numbers. If you really want to get an insight into a way of life of other people and understanding of their customs and culture, there is only one way: communication and cooperation.
With this project we learned a lot about Bucharest and Istanbul, their geography, history culture and life style. Also we learned a lot about ourselves. Our students learned things about their town, their parents and teachers that they haven't had the opportunity to learn before.
The participation in this project was an exciting and educational experience for both teachers and students of our school."
Marina Karapandzic

"Working on this project, both students and teachers got the opportunity to learn about their own customs and culture as well as about the history of their home town.
On the other hand we also learned a lot about Bucharest and Istanbul.
Above all, students had to do a lot of research on their own because there isn't much information on Glina available online and they have shown their remarkable skills in dealing with this challenging task."
Maja Stanojevic

"Working on this project was an interesting experience and we learnt a lot about our town and also about Bucharest and Istanbul. We found a lot of interesting things about those two cities. It would be nice to visit them some day.
We had a great time doing all the researches and interviews. Thanks to our mentor Marina we managed to do everything on time :)
We hope we made this little town more interesting to others and maybe more people would like to visit it.
All in all, it would be fun to do all this again!!!!"

"I think that this project is great because we learned more about other people in Europe, about their culture and town. It was really fun to find out new things about Bucharest and I think that it is a nice town. There aren't a lot of differences about living in Croatia and in Romania. I'm glad that I worked on this project."

The project was a different and a good experience for my students and also for me. We learned a lot about the history of Bucharest and Glina. We compared our city lives with these cities… But most of all, we have made friends with the students in these schools..

Thanks to everyone that worked on the project.
Elif Kara, Turkey

We started this project with our computer teacher Miss Elif Kara. She told us about EU Dialogue Award Project and we looked for partners together. Finally we have been partners with Srednja skola Glina from Crotia and School 49 from Romania. We have worked together to find our project theme and main subjects of it. We decided to investigate our cities with the slogan "The Soul Of Our Cities". We are happy now that we established our project on time with a hard work…

Thanks for our partners that we make a good collaborative work together!
